When you need a re-gas

If any of this sounds familiar, give us a call.

Most vehicles lose around 10% of their refrigerant every year. Eventually you notice — and by then you're usually too hot. Here are the signs.

Air's blowing warm

The most obvious sign. If the air coming through is barely cooler than the outside temperature, the system has lost gas and needs recharging.

Cold air, then warm

If it's cold for the first few minutes then warms up, you've likely got a leak. We'll find it with nitrogen pressure testing, then re-gas.

Musty or damp smell

Bacteria builds up in the evaporator over time. An anti-bacterial treatment clears it out — quick fix, big difference.

A/C light flashing

Pressure switch tripping or low refrigerant. We'll plug in, read the codes, diagnose properly — and quote before any work.

Noisy compressor

Rattling, whining or screeching when the A/C is on usually means a failing compressor clutch or low oil. Worth catching early.

It's been 2+ years

Manufacturers recommend a re-gas every 2 years regardless of symptoms. Refrigerant escapes slowly even on a healthy system.

How it works

One call. One visit. Cold air.

No drop-offs, no waiting rooms, no leaving the car at a garage for the day. Here's exactly what happens.

01

Call or message us

Tell us the car, the symptom, and where it'll be parked. We'll confirm the right service and a fixed price before we book.

02

We come to you

Driveway, work car park or workshop. The van carries the full A/C station — we just need flat ground and access to the bonnet.

03

Test, vac & re-gas

Pressure-test, vacuum the system, weigh in the exact correct charge of refrigerant and oil, and run the A/C through its cycle.

04

Cold air. Done.

Vent temperature checked and recorded. You get a receipt, a service record, and a car that's actually pleasant in summer.

Mobile vs garage

Why drag the car somewhere when we can come to you?

Booking a garage means weeks of waiting, dropping the car off, and hoping it'll be ready by evening. Mobile means one appointment at your address — same result, much less hassle.

Booking it into a garage

  • Wait 2–3 weeks for a slot
  • Drive there and arrange a lift home
  • Leave the car for the day
  • Hidden costs — fuel, time off work
  • Same refrigerant, much higher labour rate

We come to you

  • Same-week appointments — often within 48 hours
  • Car stays where it is — driveway or work
  • Most jobs done in under an hour
  • One fixed price — quoted before we book
  • Same OE-grade kit as the main dealers

What our customers say

Trusted by drivers and workshops across the Southeast.

★★★★★

"Air-con had been blowing warm for two summers and I kept putting it off. Booked in Tuesday, sorted on my drive in Reigate by Thursday morning. Took 45 minutes, ice cold ever since. Should've done it years ago."

Sarah K. · Reigate, Surrey — Audi A4 owner
★★★★★

"We use Regas Aircon for any A/C work that comes through the workshop. They turn up when they say, the paperwork is spot-on, and the trade rate is fair. Saves us a small fortune on subbing it out."

Dave M. · Workshop Manager · Crawley
★★★★★

"Camper van A/C had been on the to-do list for ages. Met me at the storage yard, found a small leak in 20 minutes, pressure-tested, re-gassed and away. Honest about what was needed, no upsell."

James T. · Tunbridge Wells — VW T6 owner

Common questions

The things people ask us most.

How often should I get the A/C re-gassed?

Most manufacturers recommend every two years. Air-con systems lose around 10% of their refrigerant each year even if there's nothing wrong with them — it's just how the system breathes. If you're noticing it's not as cold as it used to be, you're already overdue.

What's the difference between R134a and R1234yf?

R134a is the older refrigerant used in most cars built before about 2017. R1234yf is the newer one — better for the environment, but more expensive. Your car uses one or the other; it'll be marked on a sticker in the engine bay. We carry both, and we'll always confirm which yours needs before quoting.

What if you find a leak?

If the system won't hold pressure, there's no point pumping fresh gas straight back in. We'll pause, find the leak with nitrogen pressure testing and UV dye, and quote you for the repair before doing anything. Sometimes it's a tiny valve. Sometimes it's a condenser. You'll know before we touch it.

How long does it take?

A straightforward re-gas is 30–45 minutes. A full service is closer to an hour. Diagnostics or leak detection can take longer depending on what we find. We'll give you a realistic estimate when you book.

Do you cover vans, campers and trucks?

Yes — cars, vans, light commercials, campers, motorhomes, 4x4s, classics, tractors, plant. Anything with an A/C system, really. If it's an unusual fitment, send us the make and model and we'll confirm before booking.
